Perspective on a Faraway War Zone
At first, I was upset by all the bombing of crowded residential areas and all the dead and crippled children. Then someone calmly explained to me that this is actually the normal, expected amount of child murder and dismemberment. And also it’s the nominal amount of civilian displacement and property destruction. So it’s not so bad. Also, other countries have done worse. Also, we could do worse if we wanted to. Measured by those very low bars, it’s probably fine. I get to breathe a sigh of relief and salve my conscience.
